Foreign Visitors Surpassed Domestic in First Four Months of 2025
Decline in Domestic Arrivals and a Slight Increase in International Guests Reflect Shifts in Travel Trends in Serbia

Between January and April 2025, a total of 1,152,285 tourists visited Serbia, marking a 3% decrease compared to the same period last year. The key factor in this decline was the reduced number of domestic travelers—568,628 in total, which is 8% less than in 2024. In contrast, the number of foreign tourists increased by 2%, reaching 583,657.
Overnight Stays Slightly Down, with Domestic and Foreign Visitors Neck and Neck
The total number of overnight stays in Serbia for the first four months of this year amounted to 3,435,176, showing a 4% drop compared to the same period in 2024. Interestingly, domestic and international tourists each accounted for 50% of all overnights. Domestic travelers logged 1,714,163 overnight stays, a 12% decrease, while foreign visitors achieved 1,721,013, reflecting a 5% growth.
Zlatibor Remains the Top Choice for Domestic Tourists
In terms of destinations, domestic tourists still preferred Zlatibor, recording 283,042 overnight stays. Although this represents a 12% decrease year-over-year. Other popular spots included Kopaonik, Belgrade, Vrnjačka Banja, and Divčibare, indicating continued interest in mountain and spa resorts.

Belgrade Continues to Lead Among Foreign Visitors
When it comes to international guests, Belgrade remains the most visited city, with 849,014 overnight stays—just 1% less than last year. Other top destinations for foreign tourists include Zlatibor, Kopaonik, Novi Sad, and Niš. These numbers confirm Belgrade’s position as a key hub for international tourism in Serbia.
Russian Tourists Lead Among Foreign Nationals
Among international markets, Russian tourists accounted for the highest number of overnight stays—171,136 in total. Despite a 9% decline compared to the same period last year. They are followed by travelers from Turkey, China, North Macedonia, and Bosnia and Herzegovina, confirming steady interest from both regional and more distant markets.
