WHO WILL DICTATE THE TOURIST TRENDS OF THE NEXT YEARS?
The global corona virus pandemic has made it impossible for us to travel, and that is probably in addition to hugs what we missed the most during the previous year. Tourism and catering are the hardest hit sectors of the world economy that will take years to recover and “get back on their feet”.
Where will they travel after the crown? And will anything change when it comes to travel?
Recent world research has shown that the decision of the parents, in whose house the alpha child grows up, where they will travel, is mostly influenced by the idyllic image of the family having a wonderful time. This probably speaks more about their “millennial” parents than about the children themselves, but alpha-kids from birth affect where their parents will spend their money.
The alpha generation consists of children born from 2010 to 2025, and when the last member of the millennium children is born in 2025, the “alpha generation” will number 2.5 billion people and will have a greater impact on tourism than millennials and z generation combined!
For the children of the alpha generation, the most important holiday factor is a good “wi-fi connection”, and almost 90% of young people are on holiday non-stop online – they do not detach themselves from the screen and are constantly present on all social networks. They don’t have many friends.
An incredible 95 percent of the respondents answered that the main motive for the trip was “spending time with the family”, but 85 percent of the parents answered that they choose destinations that have amusement parks and animators.
Before the crown, the alpha generation traveled literally from birth, at least three times a year, but they stay on vacation shorter than the previous children – 6 to 9 days. Their parents took them twice a year on trips to their countries, and once abroad. Half of the alpha kids never flew a plane, but always went by car on vacation.
Alpha families stay exclusively in places that have a strong wireless network and do not go on excursions, especially not with guides. Every tenth family of parents of “millennials” and “alpha children” visits the museum. This makes them drastically different from the previous “X generation” of parents who took their “son-in-law children” on a “kidscation” – a weekend trip in accordance with the school curriculum.
What do alpha children do on the trip?
90% non-stop watching video (YouTube) online
85% record video
80% play games most of the day
75% search for online information about the place and entertainment
60% use social networks
Why do they travel?
Only 13% of “millennials” travel to visit relatives, and 11% to see something. As many as 55% of parents ask their children where they want to go on vacation!
