Grand opening of the 2025 nautical season in Belgrade

Cruise ship "Amaverde" brings the first passengers tomorrow

The Belgrade nautical season for 2025 officially begins tomorrow, when the first cruise ship of the year, “Amaverde,” will dock at the International Passenger Terminal Luka Beograd at 8 a.m. This luxurious vessel, carrying 140 passengers, will mark the start of a vibrant tourist season on Belgrade’s rivers.

Traditional Welcome for Guests

The Belgrade Tourist Organization, in collaboration with the First Steamboat Society, is organizing a ceremonial welcome for passengers in the spirit of Serbian tradition. Guests will have the opportunity to enjoy a folk performance by artists from the Cultural Center “Talija”. Also traditional Serbian rakija, bread, and salt will be offered as part of the warm reception. Additionally, surprise gifts will be presented to create lasting memories of their visit to the Serbian capital.

Belgrade in the Spotlight of European River Tourism

The passengers of “Amaverde” are on a seven-day journey titled “Jewels of Southeastern Europe”. After exploring Belgrade’s landmarks, they will return to the terminal and continue their cruise.

Last season was highly successful, with a total of 552 dockings in Belgrade and 42 in Zemun. This year, an even greater number of arrivals is expected — 603 in Belgrade and a total of 1,376 across all ports in Serbia.

Special Arrangements and New Year’s Surprises

In addition to regular dockings, special cruise ship arrivals are planned for the end of the year to bring a festive spirit to Belgrade’s waterfront. Among them are “Nestroy”, “Viktoria” and “Rousse Prestige”, which will welcome passengers for New Year’s celebrations. Additionally, this year will see the arrival of ships from the “Viking River Cruises” company. The company will be bringing Chinese guests who will have the opportunity to experience Belgrade’s vibrant nightlife.

With an increased number of dockings and a rich welcoming program, Belgrade once again reaffirms its status as a major center of river tourism in the region.
