According to available information, the modernization of Evzoni will take place in two essential phases. The first involves increasing the number of border and customs officers. This measure aims to reduce waiting times, especially during the high-traffic months of the tourist season.
The second phase includes physical upgrades to the infrastructure. Plans involve reconstruction of existing facilities, expansion of the crossing’s capacity, and the addition of new vehicle lanes and passport/customs checkpoints. Entry from Bulgaria into Greece is now seamless, making this an attractive alternative for a quicker journey to the Greek coast.
