ZELENKOVAC- IDYL HIDDEN DEEP IN THE FOREST

Excursion site and eco-zone Zelenkovac is a place in the heart of a pine forest, located in the village of Podrasnica, in the municipality of Mrkonjic Grad. It lies at an altitude of about 880 m, and in 2002 it received the status of an ecological zone. Incredible natural surroundings and the central part – a renovated mill that is now a cafe – and the gallery make this place ideal for a weekend or longer vacation.

Whether you are looking for a place for a day trip, a weekend vacation or an escape from the city for a few days, choosing this place will not go wrong. Accommodation is organized in bungalows, and the food served is authentic and homemade, so that every visitor gets a real homely atmosphere. In Zelenkovac, it is common to listen to a jazz saxophonist from New Orleans, meet famous artists from faraway Russia, see young Chinese, French or Korean women helping locals with field work, because in Zelenkovac, an international volunteer camp, jazz festival, art workshops and numerous other events.

In the eco-zone Zelenkovac you will find numerous trails for walking, running and recreation. Given the location of this place, while staying here, you can make a trip to one of the surrounding places that have something to offer. In the vicinity are the old town of Jajce with a waterfall, Pliva Lake and catacombs, Rafting Club Canyon, the old town of Kljuc, Lake Balkan and the Visitor Center Pecka.

All these locations are located within a maximum of 40 km, so it is an ideal opportunity to visit some of these sites while staying in the eco-zone Zelenkovac. There are 15 places for grilling in the zone, and in the mushroom season, you can also try mushroom picking, organized in cooperation with connoisseurs of this hobby.

“Why didn’t Boro leave” is the name of the renovated mill, which is today the gallery of the legendary painter Borislav Janković, better known as Boro Zelenkovac, a fighter for nature conservation and the promotion and advancement of Zelenkovac.

For over 20 years, Boro Janković has been building castles for ecologists, artists and well-meaning travelers on streams like ants from natural waste. The smell of pine needles sinks into the blood of everyone who finds themselves in a building that Boro designed and shaped by time. A whole constellation of artists and nature admirers passed through Zelenkovac, leaving a part of themselves to take a part of Zelenkovac. The connection is unbreakable, the number of people is huge, and Zelenkovac is open to every new joy and every new visitor.
